When does the time change?
It depends where you are, because no two blocs share a rule. In the United States and Canada the time changes twice a year, on the second Sunday in March and the first Sunday in November, both at 2:00 AM local time. In the United Kingdom and across the European Union it changes on the last Sunday in March and the last Sunday in October, at 01:00 UTC.
For 2026 that works out as March 8 and November 1 in North America, and March 29 and October 25 in the UK and Europe. Australia, New Zealand and Chile are in the southern hemisphere, so their seasons — and their changes — run the other way round. The 2026 Daylight Saving Time schedule lists every region side by side, and the clocks-go-back guide covers the autumn change on its own.
If you only want to know whether something happened last night, the did the time change today? page works it out live for your device's time zone.
